Jonathan Horwitz is a local government and features reporter for The Desert Sun in Palm Springs, Calif. His principal beat is youth and education, and he assists the newsroom with reporting on city government and environmental concerns plus photography and videography.

As a freelance environmental journalist, he has produced various long-form pieces examining the scale and scope of climate change in America’s national parks and governmental responses to changing conditions within and around them.

Prior, Horwitz worked as a financial consultant in Mexico City as a Fulbright-García Robles Binational Business grantee. He was a visiting graduate student at the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México.

Horwitz has a MS in journalism and a BA in political economy from the University of Southern California, where he was an Annenberg Graduate Fellow and Dornsife Scholar and graduated summa cum laude for both degrees.
